If you're willing to present your car for the IVA (like a super-MoT) at a local test centre and send off the certificate with your V5 application form to DVLA you could get your car faster and significantly cheaper, as businesses need to process batches of cars at a time which is highly time consuming and costly in terms of vehicle transport and manpower. You can take advantage of booking just one vehicle in and the test centres often have single appointment vacancies.
Each Niva is fully prepared with mph dials, rhd headlights, foglight wiring, wiring conduit and a few other elements which mean that there's nothing for you to do other than upload your application to DVSA online (we'll fill the form for you) and then arrange a test date over the phone when invited. You can pay by phone. The test fee is currently £199 (Sept 2021).
You do not need any number plates to drive to or from a DVSA test centre for a pre booked appointment (just like an MoT).
Collect your vehicle from the Manston storage site early on the day of the test and take it for, say, a midday test at a test centre on the way home. Around an hour and a half later you will have a type approval document. Continue home and park the car off the road.
Send in to DVLA your registration application (we'll give this to you), the original type approval certificate, proof of identity and address and payment for tax and registration fee (£335 in total as of Sept 2021). You will also need to include a certificate of newness provided by Lada 4x4.
Make sure you take a copy of the type approval document in case your application gets lost. Send the application by signed for or registered post and keep the sending reference number as DVLA will want this and possibly tracking evidence of the receiver signature if you are chasing your registration document.
That's it. job done - almost. DVLA may reject your application for any one of a number of minor and not so minor errors on the submitted forms. They will simply send the whole lot back to you with a note telling you what was wrong. Don't be too disheartened, this happens often. If you understand the error, correct it and send it back again. If you don't understand the problem contact DVLA by phone or email. Don't do this while you're stress as DVLA does not respond well to grumpiness. Remember the ultimate goal is the smooth processing of your V5 reg document and DVLA are the only game in town.
Eventually you will either receive a numberplate certificate telling you that you can put a plate on your car and go ahead with insurance, or you will receive the full V5 registration document. This depends on DVLA workload. Either way you can now insure and drive your car!
You will now (unless you have signed a waiver) have to pass on the registration number to Lada 4x4 to arrange your 2 year warranty. This is at a cost of £450+vat, is recommended and can only be provided when you have a reg number. It may already have been sold to you as a package however.
Vehicle warranty (if not included in sale package):
Also bear in mind that the car must be insured on its VIN number for driving to and from the test centre.

TIMINGS TO EXPECT:
IVA test - between 1 and 3 weeks from application depending on your flexibility on location (for 1 car)
DVLA V5 registration document - between 4 and 6 weeks depending on seasonal workload
(NOTE THESE TIMINGS ARE BASED ON COVID WORKING TIMES AS OF SEPT 2021. IVA TIMING DOES NOT APPLY TO BATCH BOOKINGS, ie 2 CARS PLUS)
